Capital and support dedicated to helping UK businesses get ‘China-ready’
China is the world’s second largest economy and an important market for any global businesses. Even if you are a small player, it’s important to think big and have a China strategy in place. In the meantime, China can be a difficult market to crack and even more so for start-ups, which is why the Crayfish Accelerator programme is here - providing a crucial combination of money and hand-holding to you: a strategic Chinese investor to fund your market entry and all the necessary training, business expertise and service delivery capabilities to facilitate it.
The six-month rolling programme, which is split into a three-month “China-Invest-Ready” phase and three-month fundraising period. The start-ups also have an opportunity to pitch to a hand-picked audience of Chinese investors for further investments at a special demo day organised by Crayfish.io. Read here for the press coverage of the Crayfish Accelerator Programme launch event.
The Accelerator package include a range of essential services needed for the China market entry, including business plan validation, market insights, culture training, Mandarin tutoring and other tailored business support. Successful start-ups will have the opportunity to pick and mix the services to suit their needs.
Successful start-ups must have a minimum viable product (MVP), be tech with IP and working within the sector focus, which is initially covering medical devices, advanced manufacturing, new materials, Internet of Things (IoT) and semiconductor*. You also need to have an interest in doing business with China within a medium term of 18 months.
* The sector focus reflect our current Anchor Investors. We are expanding the sectors as more investors join the programme.
